A mandate is an instruction given to an estate agent to deliver an exclusive estate agency service to a person. What is an open mandate? An open mandate means that any agency has access to the property. If any agent / agency wishes not to work on the property, they have no obligation to work on the property. No written appointment is given to an agent. What is a MLS mandate? A MLS mandate is a sole mandate given to an agency in the MLS group, but gives you access to 83 other agencies! The agency with the mandate, is in control and maintains order at all times. With an ordinary mandate, there could be times that the house is not in the market, because of an agent being sick or on holiday. The property will be viewed only once by all the agents whilst the house is on show during an "open hour". Thereafter agents will only visit the property with potential clients and with an appointment.
